We call this wine “first fruit” because it is the first fruit that we harvest from our vineyard every year. Our sauvignon blanc exhibits classic flavors of ripe pear, mineral and herbs, which combine to create a wine best paired with the bounty of fresh fish and shellfish harvested locally on the North Fork.
What it’s made of
2016 First Fruit- 91% Sauvignon Musque Clone/ 9% Sauvignon Blanc Clone 1
How it’s made
Hand harvested, fermented with natural yeast, no sulfur at harvest. Both clones were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. Sauvignon Musque grapes were destemmed and cold soaked over night prior to pressing.
The critics are in…
“Shinn Estate is one of my favorite Long Island producers. Its wines always seem alive in the glass, energetic and full of pleasure, and this sauvignon blanc is no different. It’s light and tangy, almost succulent, with fresh fruit flavors. It’s called “First Fruit” because its sauvignon blanc grapes are the first to be harvested each year.” – Eric Asimov, The New York Times
